Abstract:
Dockets regarding actions taken in primarily civil cases and some criminal cases brought before the justices of the peace indicating the names of the plaintiff and defendant, and in some cases those of their attorneys, the complaint entered, dates of various actions and proceedings, court costs, a short summary of the case, and the verdict given. The Justice office was located in Ripon and had countywide jurisdiction in civil cases where small amounts are involved, and in criminal cases of misdemeanors and petty crimes. All dockets except Volume 2 include an alphabetical index to plaintiffs. Volumes 3, 4, 7, and 9 include a few marriage records at the back of the book. Marriages are not indexed.
