Abstract:
Records, mainly 1875-1907, of various Crawford County, Wisconsin justices of the peace, primarily consisting of expense reports submitted for reimbursement of court and juror services and generally showing the type of criminal activity involved. The records are primarily from Prairie du Chien, but a small number come from other communities and a few are missing any reference to the community concerned. The reports before 1875 are fragmentary. Also included are a small number of orders committing prisoners to jail, 1880-1883; a court docket (1867-1869) of S. A. Taylor, a Prairie du Chien justice of the peace; and a court docket (1881-1892) of C. H. Speck, a Prairie du Chien police justice.
