Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of 3 cartoons from the television animated program Bozo's Cartoon Storybook, which was produced by Jayark Films Corporation and released in syndication in 1958. Each cartoon is introduced by an animated version of Bozo the Clown, but then tells a story with characters independent of other cartoons in the series.

These cartoons were created by Larry Harmon—one of the actors selected by Bozo creator Alan Livingston to portray the clown, and the owner of the licensing rights to the character from 1956—to be distributed to television stations around the country. At the time, different actors would portray Bozo the Clown in local studios, and the animated shorts—which featured Harmon's voice and an animated version of Bozo based on an earlier comic book incarnation—could be integrated with the local studio footage. Along with the more popular animated series, Bozo, the World's Most Famous Clown, these cartoons were included in different local Bozo programs during the nearly four-decade run of the television series.

This collection contains 3 cartoons from the Bozo's Cartoon Storybook series, of which an unknown number of episodes were created. All reels in this collection are 16 mm prints with sound, and each has a running time of approximately 5 to 15 minutes. The visual quality of these prints is generally good overall although the quality differs between individual reels.
