Cases and documents filed with the court regarding acquisition of land railroads, 1871-1879
Scope and Content Note: Milwaukee & Northern Railroad papers, 1871-1875, include commissioner's reports of the land considered for acquisition including land description and amount compensated, a volume recording the same reports, 1871-1872; and other papers filed with the court, 1871-1875. In 1870 the railroad was authorized to run track due north of Milwaukee, east of Lake Winnebago, and then to De Pere and Green Bay. A different route was completed, running north from Milwaukee to Cedarburg, Manitowoc, and Green Bay with a branch line from Hilbert Junction to Menasha. This accession also includes the case of Emelie Pouquin v. Chicago & Northwestern Railroad, 1879, commissioner's report on land acquisition by the Appleton & New London Railroad, 1872.
