Abstract:

Files of Elijah "Lige" Brien documenting Eagle-Lion's sales operations in the United States. Only films dating from 1948-1950 that began with the letters A and B are represented by correspondence with sales staff and theater management, material concerning exploitation campaigns, commercial tie-ins and contests, playdate records, official billings, synopses, press releases, and reports on newspaper advertising. Records of The Big Cat and The Black Book (formerly Reign of Terror) are particularly extensive.

Elijah "Lige" Brien (1909-1989) was the assistant manager and then manager of exploitation for Eagle-Lion's distribution in the United States during the late 1940s.

Processing Information

The records in this series were extracted from accession M95-233 which was comprised of unprocessed and partially processed files. The files were received in 1969 and some work was done on them prior to box and folder lists being prepared and call numbers being assigned in 1994-1995.
