Confidential Reports was a price and attendance checking firm employed by United Artists to keep theater managers honest. Theater attendance and income figures that managers sent to United Artists were checked against the reports that Confidential Reports compiled based on visits to theaters. The Checking Cost Ledger, 1948-1951, is arranged alphabetically by film title. On each page is a list of theaters investigated, locations, dates, film rental costs, and the fee charged by Confidential Reports. The ledger also indicates what portion of the fee was paid by United Artists or by the producers, who appeared to pay a substantial share.
Forms part of the United Artists Corporation collection.
