Susan Lee Johnson was a faculty member
in the History Department at UW-Madison. This collection is made up of course materials
related to a course Susan taught with other faculty in the summer of 2005 called "The Santa
Fe Trail: In Search of the Multiracial West," where they took 35 students to the American
Southwest. The course addressed racial and diversity issues and the papers include personal
journals from students who were enrolled in the course. English .

Conditions Governing Access
The personal journals composed by the students during the course are restricted for 75
years. Every effort will be made to track down former students and seek their permission to
make journals available, but until then they are closed until July 2094. The rest of the
materials will be open for research in accordance with the regulations and procedures of the
University Archives for unrestricted collections.
