Louise Rowan Witherell recieved a PhD
in French Literature from UW-Madison in 1948. She went on to be a full professor at UW-Green
Bay. She won an age and sex discrimination case against UW-Green Bay in the late 1980s. Her
papers contain correspondence, particularly from her time as a student in the French House
at UW-Madison. They also include photographs, writing, research files, and files from her
age and sex discrimination lawsuit.
