This collection includes three composition notebooks by UW-Madison student TOMBOY, also known as Moonie, filled with assignments from the courses Making Comics 1, Making Comics 2, and Images, the first two taught by Jeff Butler and the third taught by Lynda Barry. Assignments include daily diary comics, X page stories, drawing yourself as batman, and drawing strangers as animals. The composition books exemplify how students in these courses often turn their composition books into a scrapbook and a record of their daily lives, pasting newspaper clippings, photographs, stickers and other artifacts on the pages and adding additional sketches. The diaries include entries discussing the author's college life, childhood experiences, and identity. English
