The Charles T. Scott papers document the academic and professional activities of Professor Charles T. Scott at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of English from 1963 to 2000. Scott was involved in the institutionalization of teaching English as a second language as well as English History and Linguistics. Scott taught English in Afghanistan before appointment to the University of Wisconsin faculty in 1963 and taught in Japan after his appointment. These activities as well as his teaching materials, manuscripts, and documents related to the administration of the English Department are all represented in this collection. English
