Abstract:

The Brazil Initiative collection was compiled by Professor Emeritus Severino J. Albuquerque to document the 2009 conference "Nabuco in Wisconsin" in 2009 which was held on the 100th anniversary of the Brazilian diplomat and abolitionist's 1909 visit to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The collection also documents the activities of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Brazil initiative which began in 2009 as a result of the Nabuco conference and continued operations until 2016.
