Records of the Metropolitan Integration Research Center
(MIRC), a pro-integration organization founded in Milwaukee in 1978 to explore the
nature and causes of segregation in Milwaukee Public Schools and housing. The
collection consists primarily of administrative records, material related to the
State of Wisconsin's Chapter 220 Program (a voluntary integration program instituted
in 1976), legal cases documenting integration efforts outside of Milwaukee,
papers/reports on integration and its effect on schools/education, fundraising
efforts, and newspaper clippings on race, education, and housing issues in
metropolitan Milwaukee. Much of the collection consists of records created and/or
accumulated by Lois Quinn, MIRC's Executive Director (1978-1980).
