Abstract:
Collection of a former English teacher at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee which largely consists of her works of religious poetry. Other materials include a biographical file, correspondence and reviews of her poetry books, as well as newspaper and magazine clippings.

Biography/History

A native of Racine, Wisconsin, Ruth Mary Fox received a B.A. from Rosary College and an M. A. from the University of Wisconsin. She also did graduate work at the University of Chicago, Leland Stanford University, and the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, and received honorary doctorates from the College of St. Thomas Aquinas and Mount Mary College. Fox taught English and comparative literature at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and its predecessor institutions, the Milwaukee State Teachers College and the Wisconsin State College, from 1922-1960.

Fox's poetry has been published in numerous magazines and newspapers. Her major works include Dante Lights the Way, published in 1958, and Some Did Return, published in 1976.
