The collection documents the various conferences, workshops, and classes offered by the UW-Milwaukee College of Nursing's Continuing Education and Outreach Program from 1980 to 2001. The collection mainly contains brochures, agendas, and evaluation summaries from conference/class attendees.

The UWM College of Nursing's Continuing Education and Outreach Program, officially established in 1983, is committed to providing high quality, accessible educational programming to a wide range of practitioners of nursing, allied health professionals, and consumers of health care in southeastern Wisconsin. These programs consist of short-term noncredit workshops and conferences in the Milwaukee community, with the option of contracting for courses outside the Milwaukee community. Programs topics have included basic physical assessment, gerontology, occupational health, community health, mental health, pharmacology, clinical update for advanced practice nurses, and maternal child health.

The collection consists of records relating to conferences and classes offered by the UWM College of Nursing's Continuing Education and Outreach Program and attended by health care professionals across Wisconsin. Class and conference offerings covered a variety of subjects relating to the nursing profession, including clinical skills updates and workshops on successful nurse management.

The records mainly consist of conference and class brochures, agendas, and evaluation summaries. The collection also includes audio cassettes and videocassettes for distance-based classes on pharmacology and on the health needs of minority populations.
