Abstract:

Records of the office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and its predecessor, the office of Student and Multicultural Affairs. Most of the records currently date from Stanley Battle's term as Assistant Chancellor and then Vice Chancellor of Student and Multicultural Affairs (2000-2003). The majority of the collection consists of files concerning departments and programs within Student Affairs.

In 2000 the UWM Division of Student Affairs was renamed the Division of Student and Multicultural Affairs, and in 2003 reverted back to Student Affairs.

The majority of the collection consists of records from Stanley Battle's term as Assistant Chancellor and then Vice Chancellor of Student and Multicultural Affairs, and largely document departments and programs within the division. The collection includes materials pertaining to the athletic program, the Klotsche Center, the Norris Health Center, the Career Development Center, student recruitment and enrollment, and Pre-College and Upward Bound programs. The collection also contains materials documenting the development of a new UWM Panther logo, and materials pertaining to UWM's Neighborhood Working Group. Also included are files documenting Battle's involvement in various diversity initiatives.

This collection was received in, and is organized in, multiple parts. Additional materials have not been physically or intellectually arranged and interfiled, and researchers may need to consult more than one part of the collection to locate similar materials.

Acquisition Information

Judy Dollhausen transferred the records to the Archives in November 2004 (accession 2004-030) and May 2007 (accession 2006-063). Judy Dollhausen from the Stufent Affairs Office donated additional materials in August 2008 (accession 2008-009) and June 2009 (accession 2008-066). Student Affairs transferred additional materials to the Archives in August 2013 (accession 2013-004).

Travis Baptist processed accession 2013-004 in June 2014 (Brad Houston supervised). Zac Baldauf added additional material to the collection in September 2014 (Brad Houston supervised).
