Biography/History

University Information Technology Services (UITS) provides technological and informational support for the UWM campus. It was formed in 1993 as Information & Media Technologies through the consolidation of the former Computing Services Division, Educational Communications Division, and Information Systems. This move integrated data, voice, and media services into one organization to maximize efficiency of service. I&MT manages the university's data assets, maintains its network and multi-user computing systems, operates its print, video, multimedia and photo services, provides television and telephone services, and provides and supports campus web development.

In August 2007, the UWM Council on Information Technology and the Academic Deans Council approved a name change for the campus technology division, University Information Technology Services (UITS).
