Abstract:

Collection largely consists of commencement programs from UWM and its predecessor institutions. The collection also includes class day programs, baccalaureate programs, and honors programs from the various institutions. Press releases, commencement addresses, and some other materials related to the commencement ceremonies are also found in the collection.

University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee predecessor institutions include the Wisconsin State Normal School (1885-1927), the Milwaukee State Teachers College (1927-1951), and the Wisconsin State College, Milwaukee (1951-1956).

Acquisition Information

An unknown individual transferred the collection to the Archives some time prior to 1989. Since then, Archives staff have periodically added programs to the collection.

Processing Information

Christel Maass processed the collection at the Archives in February 1997. Charles Welborn processed additional material in August 2012. Phyllis Reske processed additional material in July 2016 (Brad Houston supervised).
