Abstract:

Miscellaneous records of the Dept. of Health Sciences mainly consisting of executive committee and faculty meeting minutes documenting staffing, course and program developments, enrollment, budget, committee reports, and other announcements and matters of concern. The collection also contains planning documents, correspondence, proposals, self-evaluation and study reports, accreditation materials, and faculty meeting minutes documenting the development of a bachelor of science degree in allied health.

The Dept. of Health Sciences was formed within the College of Letters & Science in 1973. The department fell under the administrative structure of the School of Allied Health Professions when it was formed in 1975.

The Dept. of Health Sciences records consist mainly of executive committee and faculty meeting minutes, course syllabi, budgets, planning documents, correspondence, proposals for the program, self evaluation and study reports, and accreditation materials documenting the development of a bachelor of science degree in allied health from 1973 to 1997. The Dept. of Health Sciences records also document, from 1974 to 2003, the Medical Record Administration program (1974-1987) and the Health Information Administration program (1984-2003) through self evaluation and study reports, course syllabi, accreditation materials, faculty meeting minutes, budgets, clinical practice sites, correspondence, publications, and other program related material.

The files are organized alphabetically by subject, then chronologically.

Acquisition Information

Collection originally consisted of several series transferred to the Archives prior to 1989. The Dept. of Health Sciences transferred accession 2008-003 in July 2008.

Processing Information

Christel T. Maass reprocessed the collection at the Archives in December 1993. Jeremy Brett added accession 1998-025 to the collection in October 2006. Allen Ramsey processed accession 2008-003 in November-December 2008 (Brad Houston supervised).
