Abstract:

The collection contains blueprints of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) and University Extension buildings and other structures, most dating from the 1960s through the 1970s. The blueprints were acquired from a variety of sources, and are use copies, not the official records of any UWM office. It is not known if the blueprints are the final use copy, or earlier renditions in the design process. The blueprints, which average about 2' x 3' in size, contain details on floor plans, elevations, sections and site plans. The number of sheets per roll vary from 1 to 89, averaging about 25 sheets.

For ease of use, the blueprints are organized into "rolls." An individual building may have several rolls of blueprints. The finding aid lists the buildings alphabetically by name, then provides details on the contents of individual roles, including date of creation, roll number, and number of sheets per roll.

There are no access restrictions on the materials, and the collection is open to all members of the public in accordance with state law.

The blueprints may be photocopied with the assistance of the Archives' staff, and they may also be traced.

Use Restrictions

The researcher assumes full responsibility for conforming with the laws of libel, privacy, and copyright which may be involved in the use of this collection (Wisconsin Statutes 19.21-19.39).

Acquisition Information

The blueprints were transferred to the Archives by numerous administrators prior to 1989. Stephanie Ghojallu donated some Klotsche blueprints to the Archives in June 2017 (accession 2016-045).

Processing Information

Sandy Bartell processed the collection at the Archives in September-December 1993. Ashlie Biddle (supervised by Christel Maass) added a few blueprints (accession 2016-045) to roll 70 in May 2017.

Deaccession Information

In 2005, drawings related to structural, heating and ventilation, plumbing and electrical were removed from the collection and returned to the UWM Physical Plant Services.
