Abstract:
These scrapbooks largely consist of newspaper clippings relating to international geography and world exploration. Various expeditions, particularly to the Arctic and Africa, are covered most extensively.

Scope and Content Note

These scrapbooks largely focus on worldwide exploration and travel, and provide information about the geography and the peoples of various regions. A majority of the clippings are from The New York Times, The New York Tribune, The New York Herald, Harper's Weekly, and The New York Sun. Other topics covered are noted in more detail under each series in the contents list.

Acquisition Information

The American Geographical Society (AGS) donated these scrapbooks to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Libraries in 1978 as part of its entire map and library collections.


Processing Information

Denise Gergetz (supervised by Christel Maass, UWM Libraries' Archives Dept.) began processing the collection in November 2009. Christel Maass finished processing the collection in August 2010.
