championed public service employees in the Milwaukee area through benefits programs
and events. The records consist of correspondence, financial statements, meeting
minutes, membership lists, and publications.

Biography/History
Founded in 1935, the MGSL described its purpose as supporting good government and
protecting the best interests of the community at large through maintenance and
promotion of the highest standards of public service. Pamphlets list changes in the
retirement, pension, and life insurance programs for city employees as successes of
the organization.
Scope and Content Note
Records contain meeting minutes of MGSL committees, correspondence, financial
statements, and member lists. The ‘Publications and fliers’ folder contains issues
of the magazine Government Service as well as fliers
