Biography/History

Henry Weber (1853-1927) was a prominent Milwaukee businessman who was also active in Democratic politics. Weber ran a restaurant located on East Water Street called Weber & Stuber. It was known as a rendezvous for politicians and other notable Milwaukeeans. Additionally, Weber served multiple terms as President of the Board of Park Commissioners and was part of the delegation sent to Washington to lobby for Milwaukee as the location for the 1896 Democratic National Convention.

Scope and Content Note

This collection contains photographs depicting the interior of Henry Weber’s restaurant, Weber himself, a house on Prospect Avenue and a scene at City Hall Square from 1861, as well as newspaper clippings commemorating Weber’s death in 1927. A variety of programs, menus, and an invitation for official functions are also present in the collection, including events honoring or commemorating President Theodore Roosevelt, the Emperor of Germany, and the Prince of Prussia.
