Biography/History
Founded in 1873 by William Callaway of Portishead, England. Located in Milwaukee,
this company was incorporated under the laws of Wisconsin in 1907 when William’s son
Edward Callaway became president. In 1948, the company was bought and merged with
the Gross Coal & Oil Co. to become Gross-Callaway Fuel Co.
Scope and Content Note
Includes Articles of Incorporation, subscription list, by-laws, minutes of the Board
of Directors, correspondence, minutes of Liquidating Trustees and other documents.
An index can be found at the end of Minutes book 3. The oversize folder is comprised
primarily of audit reports.

Subjects are arranged alphabetically and then chronologically within each folder.
Papers placed or affixed between pages of bound Minutes book 1 placed in an
accompanying folder.
