The South Community Organization was a neighborhood group formed in 1976 whose goal was to strengthen Milwaukee’s Southside community. The collection contains publications, brochures, reports, minutes and a proclamation.

Biography/History

The South Community Organization was a neighborhood group whose goal was to strengthen Milwaukee’s Southside community. It was a non-profit, charitable group led by a board of local residents. They facilitated some programming but focused on connecting residents to existing agencies and resources. The group was formed in 1976 and was active up through the mid-1990s.

Scope and Content Note

Collection consists of mainly publications, brochures and fliers for the organization. There is also a copy of meeting minutes from their first meeting in 1981, a 1994 annual report and 1994 City of Milwaukee Proclamation honoring the organization.

Acquisition Information

Collection was identified within unprocessed materials of Frank P. Zeidler in 2019. Frank Zeidler and later his daughter, Anita Zeidler, donated materials from the 1980s through 2010. Materials accessioned as Local History Manuscripts.
