Scope and Contents
This collection consists of drafts and proofs (2002) of the book
America’s Heartland Remembers: Words and Pictures Before, During and After September 11, 2001 produced by Writer’s Collective, 2002. Many authors contributed to the work, edited by David J. Marcou and Barbara A. Pauls, including students in the Writing for Publication class.
Biographical Note
David J. Marcou, a native of La Crosse, Wisconsin, graduated from Aquinas High School in 1968. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1973 and another Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1984. He also received a Master of Arts degree in American Studies from the University of Iowa-Iowa City in 1978. Marcou has worked as a writer, journalist, editor and photographer. He has taught courses on writing and photography at Western Wisconsin Technical College (now Western Technical College) in La Crosse.
Barbara A. Pauls was a student in Marcou’s class at Western Wisconsin Technical College called Writing for Publication.
The America’s Heartland Remembers: Words and Pictures Before, During and After September 11, 2001 is a compilation of writing and photography of many contributors, including students of the writing for publication class.
