Abstract:
Photocopies of correspondence dated 1987-1996 between John Toland and Hayden Hauser. Toland was trying to accurately portray his grandfather's house at 1402 King Street in La Crosse, Wisconsin, for his book Captured by History . Hauser was the owner and resident of the house at the time. Also included are photocopies of an early draft and final copy of chapter two of Captured by History . Toland was a Pulizer Prize winning author who was born in La Crosse in 1912.
