Abstract:
Papers of a nationally prominent journalism educator at New York University. Half of the collection documents Krieghbaum's concern with coverage of science by the mass media. This material, which consists of correspondence, speeches, articles, newsclippings, questionnaires, minutes, and reports, is especially good for his involvement with the National Science Foundation, the National Association of Science Writers, and the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing. Three boxes of correspondence, speeches, articles, and miscellany concern his membership in the Association of Journalism School Administrators and the Association for Education in Journalism. Coverage is best for his presidencies of these organizations in 1960 and 1971, respectively. The balance of the collection consists of correspondence, reports, articles, and books by Krieghbaum, and clippings about his other journalism-related activities. Located here is material pertaining to a report prepared for the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare in 1959 and a survey conducted for the American Association of Industrial Editors in 1961.
