Abstract: Records, 1951-1977, concerning the Committee's study of problems arising from termination of federal control over the Menominee Indian Reservation, the creation of Menominee County in 1961, and the reinstatement of the Menominee Reservation in 1973. The Menominee Indian Study Committee (MISC) was created in 1955 by Joint Resolution 72 A to study effects on taxation, public welfare, education, highways, forest lands, and law enforcement resulting from the transfer of federal control to local self-government. The files also contain records on Menominee Enterprises, Inc. (MEI), which was created to manage tribal assets after termination of the reservation, and limited records covering the establishment of the Menominee town and county government.
