Papers, mainly 1952-1956, of Milton E. Schneider, a Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin businessman who was active in the state Democratic Party during the period when the party was revitalized into a viable, liberal political organization. Among the issues and elections documented are the 1952 Senate primary contest between Thomas Fairchild and Henry S. Reuss; the 1956 gubernatorial campaign of William Proxmire for which Schneider was an important manager; and the 1955 party leadership campaign in which Schneider was an unsuccessful candidate for vice-chair. Other leaders documented in the papers are James E. Doyle, Betty Graichen, and Philleo Nash. English
