Abstract: Records, mainly 1900-2005, of the United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USPC), a non-profit organization formed to establish and publish drug purity standards. The major publications of the Convention are the United States Pharmacopeia (1820- ), the United States Adopted Names (1961- ), and the National Formulary (1975- ). Well-documented are convention proceedings (1900-1985) and various subcommittees of the General Committee of Revision concerning pharmaceuticals, including organic chemistry (1930-1955), tests and standards (1947-1970), sterile products (1940-1969), the vitamin advisory board (specifically Vitamin B12) (1947-1959), and the subcommittee on scope and its various advisory panels (1920-1970). Also included are materials (1961-1974) from the Drug Standards Laboratory and the National Formulary prior to their incorporation into the USPC.
