Scope and Content Note: Additions, 1947-1974, consisting of correspondence, travel diaries of Milton and his wife Velma, news clippings, ephemera and photographs related to his work with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) as an agricultural advisor. The first diary (1950-1951) details the Button’s trip across the United States prior to their departure abroad; subsequent journals describe his work in Iraq and Libya and their experiences living abroad. Also included are Velma Salisbury Button’s genealogical and family history research and her reflections on their life in the middle east and their travels. The photographs include images of Milton in the field with those with whom he worked demonstrating modern agricultural techniques and practices.
