Scope and Content Note: General correspondence and subject files, 1946-1973, related to equal rights issues. There are subject files related to civil rights for Native Americans which includes program material, background and clippings, and information about several Governor's Office initiatives. There are also Fair Employment Act investigations for several companies in Milwaukee; information on civil rights and fair employment rules in other states; and subject files pertaining to housing discrimination, sex discrimination, and age discrimination. Of note is a small amount of information related to the Black Thursday student protests at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and several public accommodations complaints related to refusal to serve African Americans.
