Scope and Content Note: "A father's personal reminescence [sic] about his son, Captain Howard Greene, 24th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry," by Welcome A. Greene, written circa 1865-1870, transcribed by Col. Howard Greene (Capt. Greene's nephew), and with additional material by Clarke A. Greene. Also included is an autobiography (in the form of a letter to his children) written in 1895 by George W. Goetz of Milwaukee (the donor's maternal grandfather) describing his early years as a student and worker in Milwaukee, his later studies in Germany and travels in Europe, and his contributions to industry, particularly the field of steel-making.
