Albert W. Grant Papers, 1829-1930

Scope and Content Note

For the early seventies there are a few small memorandum books and an autograph book kept by Grant while in the Post Office in Stevens Point and at the Naval Academy. The correspondence is almost exclusively of a social nature, consisting predominantly of invitations to banquets, receptions, balls, reunions, ship launchings, naval demonstrations, and similar affairs given by naval officers, clubs, patriotic organizations, and military orders all over the world. Through these and a small number of official and personal letters, one can trace Grant's career. Also present are a brief logbook for the U.S.S. Constellation and family photographs.
