The correspondence to Miss Blair's mother dates 1839-1857 and consists of about 25 letters. There are a number of other family letters, including two from W. E. Blair to his wife in which he speaks of a steamboat trip on Lake Winnebago in the Buchanan campaign of 1856, and his work at Newport where he was employed by the Milwaukee and La Crosse railroad.
The folder of Miss Blair's own correspondence, 1876-1910, chiefly relates to her professional work at the Wisconsin Historical Society. Also present are a few memoranda and a small volume of lists of members of the Milwaukee Young Women's Christian Association, 1886; the record book of the Milwaukee Women's Christian Friendly Society, 1886-1887; two account books of the Milwaukee Crescent “Lend a Hand” Club, 1887-1889 (one is the oversized volume); a record book of “Aid to Transients,” 1884-1888; an unidentified expense book, 1887-1888; and an inventory book of an unidentified book store, 1874-1881.
