Ezra Goodrich Papers, 1849-1887

Scope and Content Note

The collection contains both business and personal papers of Goodrich. The merchandising account book, 1849-1858, records unit price, quantities ordered, and the total order price for such items as syrup, mittens, umbrellas, “Yankee notions,” dried apples, turpentine, silk goods, and other items from firms in New York and Massachusetts. Also included are the names of Goodrich's major local accounts. For example, he had extensive wheat accounts with William Birge of Whitewater, Wisconsin.

Other papers presented to the Archives in 1971 consist of unbound business and personal papers, William T. Morgan legal documents, and records concerning Town of Milton School District No. 5.
