Ruth Milofsky Papers, 1959-1979

Biography/History

Ruth Milofsky was born on April 11, 1917. She was an art and art education teacher as well as being an artist. She directed the Paint Box Center from 1965 to 1969 in Milwaukee's Hillside Housing Project. She joined the UWM faculty in 1959 and became an associate professor in 1971. She established and coordinated the course Fieldwork in Art, in which students were placed in 23 different schools, agencies, and institutions in the Milwaukee Metropolitan area. By 1978, she was the area head in Art Education.
