Helen Creighton was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1914. Creighton received a law
degree in 1942 from George Washington University Law School and a nursing degree in 1956
from Georgetown University School of Nursing. As a lawyer and nurse, Creighton published
widely in professional journals of nursing and authored two books: Nursing of People with Cardiovascular Problems (with Catherine Armington) and
Law Every Nurse Should Know (five revised editions).
Creighton presented over 700 workshops and addressed over 100 national and international
conferences. Her "Helen Creighton Workshop" was widely attended during the 1970s and
1980s.
