Correspondence of a publisher of the Madison-based Wisconsin State Journal, together with occasional clippings, reports, and speeches. The files deal almost entirely with Anderson's work as publisher and contain exchanges with Emmanuel P. and Philip D. Adler and Lee P. Loomis of the Lee Group of newspapers, which owns the State Journal, and with William T. Evjue, who joined Anderson in the formation of Madison Newspapers, Inc. Other correspondents include Aaron Bohrod, Chester B. Bowles, Erle Stanley Gardner, Roy L. Matson, Richard M. Nixon, William Proxmire, Frederick A. Seaton, Wendell L. Willkie, Frank Lloyd Wright, and a host of prominent Wisconsin politicians. Also of interest are substantial files on the early history of the paper, the Lee Group, World War II censorship, and correspondence from Madison-area servicemen. English
