Note: Close was writing a book about avant-garde composer John Cage. This discussion with de Antonio includes the following: the filmmaker's reminiscences of Cage; memories of Cage's first concerts, some of which were produced by de Antonio; memories of the avant-garde art scene in New York City during the late 1950s and early 1960s; and some discussion of de Antonio's life and activities during that period.

Note: Used by Green in writing two articles for French publications. These interviews explore, in great depth, de Antonio's work, his life, and his philosophy. They were conducted in three sessions: two held at the filmmaker's Manhattan studio, and one at his home on Long Island. Prominent in the first session is a detailed discussion by de Antonio about the making of the film Underground. De Antonio's wife Nancy participates in the second session.
