Howard Rodman Papers, 1942-1977

Biography/History

Beginning his career by writing short stories, Howard Rodman wrote for radio, television, theater and motion pictures. Rodman's television work is well-known for he contributed numerous scripts to such prestigious series as Studio One, Alcoa-Goodyear Theatre and Naked City; he won the Writers' Guild Award for best teleplay of the year three times. Other television series he worked on include Antonio and the Mayor and The Neon Ceiling, the latter of which won the Writers Guild award in 1972. His work was also seen on series such as The Bold Ones: The New Doctors, Harry O, The Invisible Man, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Run for Your Life, and The Six Million Dollar Man. Additionally, Rodman concentrated on the film medium and wrote the screenplays for such motion pictures as Coogan's Bluff (1968) and Winning (1969), as well as Charley Varrick.
