Records of the Center for Children's Literature, a lending library and research
center formerly run by the School of Education that existed to "provide resources
for nurturing a love of reading books." Most of the records in the collection date
from 1998 to 2004, and concern the Center's establishment, operation, and funding.
The majority of the documentation consists of the correspondence of Center founder
and director John Warren Stewig with authors and other children's literature
foundations. Also included in the collection are materials from public programs,
including a celebration of Curious George author H. A. Rey, author talks with
Ellen Raskin, Lois Ehlert, and Jules Feiffer, and workshops on writing, dramatizing,
and publicizing children's literature. Also included is a promotional video created
by the center, which showcases the resources offered and provides information on the
center's history.
