Records of the Graduate Program Office for the School of Nursing at UW-Milwaukee, which
administered the school's M.A. and Ph.D. programs. Most date from the mid-1970s to the late
1980s. The correspondence files contain information about program and degree development,
new course offerings, and expanding library collections on nursing. Agenda and minutes
document meetings on such topics as guidelines for program reviews, thesis and master's
projects and clinical practice. Other topics involve new courses, teaching assistant
policies, surveys, and accreditation. The doctoral program can be traced through the Ph.D.
planning committee and Ph.D. program committee files, which contain correspondence, as well
as versions of the original doctoral program proposal. Subcommittee files for admissions,
progression, appeals, and trainees/fellowships document stages of student progress through
the various nursing degree programs. Task force reports cover several program and School
self-studies, as well as discussion of the Master's and Ph.D. proposals. Doctoral faculty
and graduate student retreats files contain materials planning for a given upcoming school
year. Proposals files include the course proposal form and other departmental documents
regarding the proposed course, while syllabi files include syllabi and bibliographies for
established courses.
