Scope and Content Note: Additions, 1942-1984, consisting of drafts, interview transcripts, and research materials for biographies Teichmann wrote and published about his former collaborator George S. Kaufmann, New Yorker writer Alexander S. Woollcott, political and social figure Alice Roosevelt Longworth (written with his wife, Evelyn Teichmann) and actor Henry Fonda. Interviewees include Fonda, Lauren Bacall, Ira Gershwin, Helen Hayes, Alfred Lunt, William Paley, William Shawn, Thornton Wilder, and other prominent figures in arts, media and politics. Drafts of Teichmann's theatrical works Miss Lonelyhearts, The Girls in 509, and The Solid Gold Cadillac can be found, as well as several others in both final and draft form. Non-dramatic writings include an incomplete work about the Shubert brothers; commentaries on current events, presumably written for radio broadcasts; and other short pieces. Also included are photographs, principally of Teichmann and Woollcott; ephemera; and artifacts.
