The Dept. of Personnel Services administered all personnel and human resources policies and
procedures for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, including Affirmative Action and Equal
Opportunity issues, university-wide salary issues, sexual harassment and other grievances,
and evaluations of hiring practices of various campus units. The director of the department
served as university representative in collective bargaining and as representative to the
UW-System Personnel board. In 1993, the name of the department was changed to the Office of
Human Resources.
