The Office of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity (AA/EO) was a division of UWM,
reporting directly to the chancellor. It had campus-wide jurisdiction for faculty, staff and
student complaint investigations relating to matters of discrimination, and campus-wide
monitoring responsibilities for the recruitment of faculty and staff. Before the 1988-1989
academic year, the AA/EO existed as the Equal Opportunity Office. Sometime in 1992 or 1993,
the AA/EO acquired a new name, the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs.
