Biography/History

The UWM Division of Student Academic Development (known as Student Academic Support Services through the mid-1990s) comprises six programs including the Academic Opportunity Center, the Office for Multicultural Affairs, the Pre-College Center, the Student Accessibility Center, Tutoring and Academic Resource Center, and Upward Bound. The mission of division is to promote the academic and personal development of students through the efforts of a dedicated student-centered team that provides exemplary services and support. The division's programs offer a variety of support services to multicultural and disadvantaged students at the pre-college and college levels. Services range from academic advising, tutoring and advocacy to career planning, skill building and diversity training.
