Biography/History
The Office of Women's Studies was established in 1974 within the School of Social Welfare.
The Women's Studies Certificate Program was created in 1991. The Office became the Center
for Women's Studies and moved into the Graduate School in 1983. It changed to the Women's
Studies Program in 2011. In 2013 the program became a tenure home (a department-like body)
and the director position changed to a chair.
