2013/162
|
Part 1 (2013/162, Audio 1704A/1): Original Collection, 1972-2011 9.6 cubic feet (9 records center cartons and 2 archives boxes), 0.4 cubic feet of photographs, and 1 tape recording : Files, 1972-2012, from the offices of curator of research Marty Perkins including both administrative records and Perkins' research files. Administrative records relate generally to the running of Old World Wisconsin including correspondence, program material, reports, and tours. Research files document both the buildings considered by the site and the ethnicities examined. Particularly well documented are the Finnish, Polish, Danish, Norwegians, and Swedish. Also of note are records related to African Americans and the Pleasant Ridge area; baseball (or base ball) research; and interviews with Alan Pape, Marty Perkins, Bill Tischler, and Mark Knipping.

Part 2 (2013/167, Audio 1704A/2-21): Additions,
1969-2008 28.6 cubic feet (26 records center cartons, 6 archives boxes, and 1 card box), 2.8 cubic feet
(2 records center cartons and 3 archives boxes of photographs), 23 videotapes, 3 DVDs,
and 20 audio recordings : Records, 1969-2008, of the Old World Wisconsin historic site including material about
the administration and operation of the site, research material, and photographs.
Administrative and operation records include budgeting, planning, a National Endowment
for the Humanities self-study, visitor surveys, and general records pertaining to the
running of historic sites. Well documented is the development of the interpretive
program at the site including interpretive plans for many sites. he buildings studied
and acquired by the site are extensively documented, including the families to whom the
buildings originally belonged. The planning, development and grand opening of the
Pleasant Ridge settlement is also well represented. There are staff files for Peter
Arnold, John Harbour, and Marty Perkins. Photographs show buildings, site visitors,
programs, and interpreters. There are several interviews with donors to the site as well
as videos of programs, site promotions, and special events. : Files with a number in parenthesis were removed from binders, the numbers likely relate
to a filing scheme for which the WHS does not have a key.

archives box), and 1 tape recording : Slides, 1968-1982, documenting Old World Wisconsin and the site's development. The bulk
of the collection is images of the buildings currently at Old World Wisconsin, often
documenting the building in its original location and its new location at Old World.
There are also images of buildings which were evaluated for the site and not selected,
events at the site, interpreters and staff, and of a Wisconsin National Guard film
project filmed at the site. The photographic files of Gary A. Payne document his
research on buildings (none of which are at Old World Wisconsin) and ethnic groups.
There are a small number of slides from Marty Perkins. The research and acquisition file
of Jack Winn includes copies of images of specific buildings evaluated for Old World
Wisconsin and a research trip to Rock County. Winn's files also include three reports
and some publicity items relating to the opening of the site.
