The collection primarily pertains to the firm's business and legal activities, and includes correspondence dealing with collection of debts, credit reporting, mortgages and rental payments, land transactions, and general legal correspondence. A letterpress book contains copies of Porter's outgoing legal correspondence, 1905-1911. Also included are files of correspondence accumulated by Porter in his capacity of district attorney; and as a member of the Lincoln County and Merrill boards of education, the cemetery board, and the Merrill Masonic Lodge. A file of Porter's personal correspondence is also present.
